This amazing 4 in 1 rotary calendar clock, the ‘KAL KLOK’ was patented by Herbert W. Lamport in July 1938. It has a cast metal case. The winding/setting knobs for alarm and time are concealed under the top brass domed lid. The upper opening in the clock case displays the time on a rotating tape measure-like dial. Windows below display the day, month and date. The clock has a 30-hour movement. Height, 5 1/2 in. x 5 3/8 in. wide and weight is just over 1 Kg. This was manufactured by the Howard Clock Corp. of Chicago. Very few of these clocks were ever made, as the world war set in, by 1939, and all manufacturing was then devoted to the war effort.
The casing is a rough casting- un-machined / unpolished . The brittle cast iron casing meant that the clock was broken if mis-handled or accidentally dropped. I have seen a similar clock in a museum, where the broken casing and mechanism were kept side by side. This clock is a great buy. It was also listed as the most unique clock of the century, by a collectors’ forum. This clock is fully working, and keeps good time and has the original movement, probably made by Ansonia. All, in all, this is a wonderful rare clock. It is in a great condition to last another 100 years!!
Costing: I bought this clock many years back, for its uniqueness. I realised its value, when a similar clock was sold for $1050 in 2009 (Rs 46000). Since then only two more clocks have been sold. One a working piece, but with casing cracked (vertically & horizontally), went for $600 in 2016 (then Rs38000), and more recently, a badly broken casing, with a nonfunctional clock (unknown state) went for $300 in 2020 (Rs 23000). My asking price is therefore very fair, based on this wonderful clock’s condition. Please see all the photos to soak in a one in a lifetime experience. The photos tell the full story. Ask,if in doubt. Thanks for your time.Courier out of Pune will be extra to buyer’s account. Thanks for your time
