Tasks
 
You as a research scientist will be responsible for execution of research and development activities in the area of power generation and storage with specific focus on solar power generation, and heat and electricity storage. Being part of this group, you are expected to be familiar with the following concepts of;
Modeling/Simulation of energy systems, Flow sheet integration and optimization, Heat balances and energy sensitivity analysis, Plant processes (for various types of plants, including desalination or cooling plants), Dynamics (transient mode evaluations) of a process, Operation and lifetime: functional analysis of reliability, availability and maintenance (HAZOP skills a plus) and System integration and techno-economical optimization.
You are also expected to bring this conceptual knowledge into application in one or more of the following areas of:
Thermal solar plants
Fossil fuel plants (for benchmarks) Thermal energy storage
Electrical energy storage
Electrical and thermal cooling processes Photovoltaic/Concentrated photovoltaic
 
Requirements
Your Masters or PhD degree in Chemical/Mechanical/Thermal/Electrical engineering with the relevant experience (> 2-3 years) in one or more of the above mentioned applications and prior experience in technology (R&D) would be an ideal fit.
Your knowledge in system design (modeling, optimization and integration), thermodynamics and energy analysis skills, dynamics of a process, techno-economical optimization, functional analysis and your ability to understand in-depth drivers for different technologies and perform simulations and to innovate and propose breakthrough and differentiating ideas (outstanding intelligence and curiosity)with the ability to gain very quickly (within few weeks) a good overview on key issues for any given new complex technology areas would be a plus.
