The business writer will primarily work on creating thought leadership, white papers, articles for external media, research reports, case studies and domain-specific marketing collateral. This position may also involve mentoring and training other writers in the writer’s capacity as a subject matter expert. The position will not involve any team management functions. The writer may be required to provide marketing consulting/content development advice to the marketing team.
The candidate must have:
Between 13 to 18 years of business writing experience in BPO/Shared Services or in the marketing function of large technology/consulting companies.
Marketing background, especially in marketing consulting, preferred. Brand communications experience also welcome.
Candidates who have written or helped write Points of View, white papers, position papers and books will be highly preferred.
The work experience will be in either of the following domains:
Of the total work experience, at least five years will have been spent writing on technology in areas such as SAP, Oracle, SOA, SaaS, ERP; cloud computing, application outsourcing, etc,.
Technical writing experience preferred but not mandatory.
Of the total work experience, at least five years will have been spent writing on banking, investment banking or insurance, preferably in an international financial newswire organization.
Of the total work experience, at least five years will have been spent writing on chemicals, mining, metals, forest products industries (lumber, pulp and papermaking, packaging), oil and gas, power, utilities.
Understanding of energy pricing in utilities, Smart Grid, and sustainability issues will be an added advantage
The candidate must have:
Strong flair for business writing: the candidate must know how to identify and communicate the business relevance of technologies (in the case of the technology writer).
Should understand brand positioning and communications, and must be skilled in making marketing presentations.
Srong communications skills with some understanding global cultural nuances.
Strong understanding of one or more of the Company service lines
Strong understanding of how businesses are run and of trends in the world of business
Preferably, a degree in Economics/or an MBA from a reputed institution
Must know how to write for an international c-suite audience.
Powerpoint and formatting skills; these skills will be an added advantage.
